A plain-language summary of what sooshmaps does with your data.

sooshmaps is a free tool for building choropleth maps of India. This page explains what information is collected when you use it, why, and how you can control it.

What's collected

Your Google account email — used only to sign you in and identify your saved maps. sooshmaps uses Google Sign-In; no separate password is ever created or stored.
The maps you save — titles, the data values you enter, and your styling choices (colours, labels, layout). This is stored so you can come back and edit or export them later.
Basic usage analytics — via Google Analytics: which pages are visited, roughly how, and standard technical details like browser type. This is aggregate traffic data, not tied to building a personal profile of you.

What's not done

No ad targeting — and no ads at all, anywhere on the site.
Your data is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.
No tracking of you across other websites.

Who else sees it

Two service providers process data on sooshmaps' behalf, strictly to run the product:

Google — handles sign-in, and Google Analytics handles the usage stats above.
Supabase — the database that stores your saved maps. Access is locked down with row-level security, meaning your maps are only ever readable by your own account — not by other sooshmaps users.

Your maps, your control

You can delete any saved map at any time from the Home page — this removes it immediately and permanently.

Full account deletion: if you'd like your account and any remaining associated data removed entirely, contact info@sooshmaps.com and this will be handled directly rather than through an automated flow.

Cookies

sooshmaps uses cookies/local storage for two purposes only: keeping you signed in, and Google Analytics' standard usage tracking. There's no cross-site advertising cookie on this site.

Children's privacy

sooshmaps isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this page

If how sooshmaps handles data changes meaningfully, this page will be updated. Since there's no mailing list, checking back here is the way to stay current.
